Effective January 18, 2018, India accepts Carnets for professional equipment. Carnet entry under Professional Equipment will be restricted to two months. Extension for an additional two months is possible. Please refer to Indian customs’ guidelines.

USCIB has set a special security requirement of 55% of the value of the goods listed on the General List for all ATA Carnets intended to enter India. This is 15% higher than the usual 40% security requirement. CarnetsOnline™ will automatically calculate this security requirement for you.

ATA Carnets are accepted for exhibitions and fairs, whether government sanctioned or private. Goods imported into India under cover of ATA Carnets have to be re-exported within the six month period following their importation.
If you need to keep your goods in India longer than the six month period, you should obtain approval:

1. From the Customs office of import
2. Before the six month period has expired. Failing such approval within the due period, duties, taxes, and interests would become payable.

Name of the authorized representative must be listed in Box B on the ATA Carnet Green Cover.
Indian Customs requires a FICCI issued Guarantee Letter to be included along with the ATA Carnet. To obtain this letter you have to register on FICCI’s website and then select request Guarantee Letter.
